Many professionals admit, when it is asked to them if they ever suffered from fright in their careers, that they were actually never able to gotten over the fright regarding their performances. Instead, they learned to perform in spite of this.
Same with any profession, math anxiety can be a disabling condition, causing humiliation, resentment, and even panic. Math anxiety can be described as frustration due to being unable to understand or solve the methods, problems, and/or formulas etc of the subject.

The success of the following remedial method for math anxiety is totally dependent on your willing to get rid of it. If you choose to study the subjects that don’t include math, you are going to limit yourself in your career choices because of the fact that only 25% of all careers are math-free i.e. that do not require to know more than very basics of mathematics such as simple addition, subtraction, etc. It is, therefore, important to try your level best to get rid of math anxiety and the good news is that it is not hard. Here is how you can do it.
Taking Possession
At the start, surrender yourself of the fact that your feelings of math anxiety are not uncommon. Hence, these feelings do not indicate that there is something wrong with you about your ability to learn math. One easy way to do that is by exploring your own math-history. Write down your experiences as a math student including your reaction to each experience, both at the time and how it makes you feel to recall it now.
When you have completed this exercise, try to sum up in a few words your feelings about math at this point in your life along with the reasons you wish to succeed at math and take a fresh sheet of paper and write all this down. It will not become possible to take possession of our feelings of math anxiety and become free to implement strategies for coping with those feelings until we lay out for ourselves in a deliberate and conscious way what do we feel and desire towards math. |
